After watching yesterday’s game it is evident that the Timberwolves rely on Anthony Edwards more than expected. Edwards finishing with a double-double, 1 assist shy of a triple-double, had a very strong first half. He cooled off in the second half but finished strong and made his presence known. The key for the Timberwolves to not rely so heavily on Edwards is through their two bigs. Karl Anthony-Towns and Rudy Gobert are huge keys to staying in this series. KAT was 4-5 on three-pointers, most coming in crucial times. Gobert was solid throughout the game and even got into it offensively. The Timberwolves can take game 5 as well if they stay out of foul trouble and continue to look for their bigs to get points. The Dallas Mavericks do not have the bigs to compete with the Timberwolves. I assumed that the Timberwolves would roll through the Mavericks but due to the poor play from both KAT and Gobert in the first three games, it caused too much to fall onto Anthony Edwards. Edwards is a dominant player but isn’t quite there to be relied on like he has this entire playoffs. With time Edwards should be able to take more of a workload but for now, he needs help from his supporting bigs. Also, a small note is that Mike Conley had a great game and is a small but key factor for success because if he can play well while Edwards rests they can come together as a dominant team.
